Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun have reportedly called off their engagement after 10 months, as per sources. According to People, the musicians have decided to end their relationship; sources close to the couple told the outlet. “Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple,” said the insider. The ex-couple were last publicly seen together at a pre-Grammy event celebrating Julie Greenwald and Craig Kallman in Los Angeles.
A representative for Mod Sun shared in a statement: “They were together and engaged as of three days ago when Mod left for tour so if anything has changed that’s news to him. Mod will be performing tonight in Portland at The Hawthorne Theater.”
Previously this week, another publication TMZ shared photos of Lavigne hugging rapper Tyga after an outing at Nobu restaurant. The images quickly sparked dating rumors but a source confirmed, “Avril and Tyga are genuinely friends and nothing more. There was absolutely no third party involved in the split.”
Meanwhile, Lavigne and Sun were first introduced to each other by Machine Gun Kelly and later bonded with each other when they worked on “Flames,” a single from Mod Sun’s album Internet Killed the Rockstar. They were first romantically linked the following month and later got engaged in April 2022.
The “Girlfriend” singer announced her engagement in an Instagram post writing, “Oui! Je t’aime pour toujours,” she wrote, which translates to “I love you always,” alongside a black and white photo of the musician down on his knee. “Dimanche. 27. Mars. 2022.”
