South Korean actors Shin Ye Eun and Kim Tae Ri are currently in talks for a new, webtoon-based historical drama Jung Nyeon (romanized title).
According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, Jung Nyeon is set in the 1950s and tells the story of Yoon Jung Nyeon, a young girl from Mokpo, who has no money or education but is born with a talented singing voice.
Throwing more light on the subject of the drama, the publication stated, “The historical drama follows the happenings that occur when Yoon Jung Nyeon joins a women’s traditional theater company to achieve her dreams of becoming rich.”
In response to casting reports of Shin Ye Eun, her agency NPIO Entertainment clarified, “It is a project that [she is] positively reviewing.” Meanwhile, Kim Tae Ri was previously reported to be in talks for the drama in November 2022.
On November 16, her agency Management mmm had shared, “It’s true that Kim Tae Ri has received a casting offer from the producers of Jung Nyeon [literal title]. It’s one of the projects she is considering.” The actress is in talks for the for the lead role of Yoon Jung Nyeon.
