Kangana Ranaut is remembering veteran filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar who passed away today early morning at the age of 67. The actress revealed in a video that she was scheduled to meet the late filmmaker in a week for their next biopic film Noti Binodini, announced in 2022.
Taking to Twitter, Kangana wrote, “Last meal I had with Pradeep dada, he knew I love Bengali food, this was during Noti Binodini prep meet, that’s his hand in the first frame… Such a terrible news, we were to meet as soon I got to Mumbai… My heart is sinking and I won’t be able to cope with this shocking news.”

Later on, she added on her Instagram Stories, “He made me sit next to him and kept telling me what to eat… I am shattered, we were to start Noti Binodini in October and now I feel so lost, I was to meet him this week…this is so unsettling.”
As per reports, Pradeep was on dialysis. His condition deteriorated around 3 am and he was rushed to a hospital, where he breathed his last. The news about his death was shared by filmmaker Hansal Mehta on Twitter.
Sarkar made his Bollywood debut with the acclaimed and successful Parineeta in 2005. The rest of the films helmed by Sarkar include Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Lafangey Parindey, Mardaani and Helicopter Eela. In recent years, Sarkar also ventured into the territory of web series with shows like Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala, Arranged Marriage, Forbidden Love and Duranga.
Speaking of Noti Binodini, the film was announced in 2022 and is based on one of the most iconic names in the Bengal history, Noti Binodini. Ranaut was set to play the role of Noti Binodini, the legendary theatre superstar who established the theatre culture.
Ranaut said in an official statement at the time, “I am a very big fan of Pradeep Sarkaar ji and very happy for this opportunity. Also this will be my first collaboration with Prakash Kapadia ji and I am completely thrilled to be part of this remarkable journey with some of the greatest artists of this country.”
