Ayushmann Khurrana, acclaimed for his fearless approach to challenging roles, created waves when he lent his versatile voice to dub a female character in the 2019 hit movie Dream Girl. Portraying a hotline caller adept at impersonating a woman to captivate male callers, Ayushmann’s performance left audiences in awe. Now, riding on the success of the original film, creators are gearing up for the much-anticipated sequel, and Ayushmann recently shed light on his process of mastering the unique voice that brought the character of Pooja to life.
In a recent interview with ANI, Ayushmann Khurrana opened up about his preparation for the role, revealing a light-hearted anecdote from his past. He shared, “My Radio jockey and theatre stint really helped me greatly, especially in this film. I used to make prank calls as a woman when I was working at the radio station. Moreover, I used to call my first girlfriend and would pretend to be her female friend if her dad picked up the landline.”
Speaking about the highly anticipated sequel, Ayushmann highlighted the efforts to enhance the comedic quotient, promising that Dream Girl 2 would surpass its predecessor. “Ekta (Kapoor) and I wanted it to be funnier than the previous part and I really feel that we have managed to do that. It’s actually version 2.0….double fun,” he shared.
The recent launch of the film’s trailer has already set the stage for a laughter-filled cinematic experience, with witty dialogues and hilarious twists taking centre stage. Adding to the excitement, the first track from the film’s music album, titled ‘Dil Ka Telephone 2.0’, was released, further heightening anticipation for the upcoming release.
The movie boasts an ensemble cast featuring Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Seema Pahwa, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, and more. Helmed by director Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, Dream Girl 2 is set to grace theatres on August 25, promising another round of uproarious entertainment that fans have been eagerly awaiting.
