Blockbusters often take years of meticulous planning, production, and promotion to achieve significant milestones. It’s truly remarkable when a film manages to capture the hearts of the audience and make an instant impact. Such is the case with the recently released Sunny Deol amd Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2. A sequel to the groundbreaking 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, the Anil Sharma directorial has not only received rave reviews but has also resonated deeply with the audience. This fact is evident from the ever-growing collections of the film with each passing day. After opening on a thunderous note, the business of Gadar 2 witnessed an exponential growth in collections over its opening weekend.
Now, on its fifth day running, the film which has consistently been drawing in around Rs. 40 crores each day, has managed to cross the Rs. 200 crores mark. In fact, after crossing the Rs. 100 crores mark by the end of its opening weekend, the first Monday collections of Gadar 2 held steady with Rs. 38.70 crores coming in, and another Rs. 55.40 crores coming in on its fifth day. With this, Gadar 2 has now joined the previously released film KGF – Chapter 2 which had also managed to enter the Rs. 200 crores club in just five days of its release.
If that was not interesting enough, with Gadar 2 now crossing the Rs. 200 crores mark in five days, the film has managed to surpass other big releases like Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion, Sanju, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Sultan and even Dangal which took seven days each to accomplish this feat. However, though Gadar 2 has emerged as one of the fastest Rs. 200 crores grossers of recent times, it stands just behind the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan which had managed to cross the Rs. 200 crores mark in just four days of its release. With this, Gadar 2 ranks as the second all-time fastest Rs. 200 crores grosser.
As of now, Gadar 2 continues to remain as the audiences’ first choice in theatres. In fact, given the appreciation the film has been receiving, trade predictions state that the business of Gadar 2 will see further growth over the subsequent weekdays. It will come as no surprise if the business of Gadar 2 crosses the Rs. 250 crores mark or for that matter even near the Rs. 300 crores mark by the end of its first week.
