Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has now entered the 90s, though it won’t be the nervous 90s for the film. On the contrary, the journey from Rs. 90 to Rs. 100 crores would in fact be covered in a jiffy since the film is performing quite well. This was evidenced on Saturday itself when the film stepped into the double digits all over again after 5 days, what with Rs. 11.50 crores coming in. Last Saturday the film had collected Rs. 16.05 crores and the fall is lesser than 30% even on the second Saturday. In fact, the numbers are even bigger than the first Friday which had seen Rs. 11.10 crores coming in.
Currently standing at Rs. 91.58 crores, the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer has been doing very good business now and is seeing the best trending since Pathaan and The Kerala Story. Such kind of consistency is amazing for the film business since there were so many heartbreaks post pandemic that one wondered when would non-event films start attracting audiences consistently. That has now started happening with first Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, then Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and now very recently SatyaPrem Ki Katha. However, it has to be said that the trending of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is the most impressive as it’s a high budget film and still the final outcome won’t be just opening dependent.
If not for a formidable challenge in the form of twin releases Gadar 2 and OMG 2, the Karan Johar biggie could well have sighted even Rs. 150 crores+ lifetime. However, for now the first big aim would be to cross 140 crores and then keep adding on bonus numbers in its lifetime run.
