To promote the third season of one of their prime titles Bridgerton, team Netflix decided to give members of the media and influencers an out-of-the-world experience. Since the experience had to be something this crowd had never seen before, they were all flown into Bowral in Australia, about 90 minutes-drive from Sydney. It’s a beautiful quaint town, with cherry and magnolia trees all around, colourful tulips and a variety of flora and fauna.
Along with the best of nature the town has managed to maintain breath-taking heritage homes and properties. Since Bridgerton is set London’s lavish society, a heritage property with beautiful gardens was hand-picked for this particular junket. One can imagine Bridgerton being set and shot in Bowral, the place fit perfectly with the theme of the show. And then events team added the Bridgerton touch of royal horse carriage, hot air balloon, picnic baskets, healthy and cooling drinks at a bright bar, royal style servings at the restaurant, perfumery workshop, painting workshop, pickleball in the park and the entire pathway to the rooms had photos of the characters all framed perfectly as if they have always been there.
The lead cast Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) and Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton) showed up at the red-carpet press line and chatted with the media and so did showrunner and writer of season 3, Jess Brownell.
While speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama she said, “I really felt this was the right direction for the show. We have been with Penelope and Colin for two seasons now, there is a dynamic between them that has continued where Pen is crushing on Colin hardcore, but Colin is not realising it. I felt if we push that much longer it would get frustrating, so it felt this was the right time to team them up.”
Nicola spoke about the romantic scenes between her and Luke. “I was terrified earlier but they ended up being some of our favourite scenes to film because when we build up something and you do it right, you feel great and they are written beautifully, it’s romantic, sexy and funny. I’m mostly excited for people to watch them,” she said.
After talking to the press, the cast along with the writer were on stage to introduce everyone to the first episode which was exclusively screened for the select press and influencers.
