The recently released trailer for the upcoming film Kill has set the internet ablaze. Director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and actor Lakshya Lalwani appear poised to deliver a high-octane action experience, filled with breakneck pacing and brutal action sequences. But a good action film isn’t complete without a formidable villain, and finding the right actor proved to be a challenge for the production team. According to Guneet Monga Kapoor, one of the film’s producers alongside Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, casting the villain was the most difficult aspect of the entire process. However, that struggle vanished entirely the moment they witnessed Raghav Juyal’s audition.

Kill Guneet Monga says 100 auditions were conducted before Raghav Juyal was cast as the menacing villain “We were searching for someone who could bring an unusual blend of menace and humour to the role”

This news comes as a surprise to many fans, as Juyal is known for his comedic roles and energetic dance performances. His casting as the antagonist in Kill signifies a bold departure from his usual persona, adding a layer of intrigue to the film. For the same role, 100 auditions were conducted before Juyal was cast.

Speaking to Mid-day, Monga said, “We took 100 auditions and Raghav stood out to us. We were searching for someone who could bring an unusual blend of menace and humour to the role, a character who could captivate and terrify the audience at the same time. Raghav not only embraced the part’s complexity, but also added his own unique flair.”

“Raghav’s performance captures the essence of his character. His portrayal will remind audiences of the iconic Joker, but with a distinct twist that is entirely his own,” she added.

Kill introduces newcomer Lakshya Lalwani as the lead, Amrit, a Special Ops commando. The plot revolves around Amrit’s desperate attempt to win the heart of Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) before she’s forced into an arranged marriage. Their love story takes a dramatic turn when the train they’re on is overtaken by a ruthless gang of 40 bandits. Amrit is then forced to transform into a one-man army, battling for not only his love but also the safety of the passengers.

Early reactions praise the film’s bone-crunching action sequences, comparing them favourably to The Raid films. Critics commend the fight choreography, highlighting the impactful blows and relentless pace of the action. However, Kill is more than just a display of violence. Reviews suggest the film maintains a focus on its characters and the emotional core of the story, drawing the audience into Amrit’s fight for love and survival.

The film’s upcoming release in Indian theatres on July 5 is highly anticipated.
