Actor and filmmaker Randeep Hooda is undergoing a personal and professional shift! In a conversation with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Randeep opened up about re-evaluating his approach to work and finances, particularly after getting married and venturing into filmmaking.
From Carefree Actor to Responsible Producer
Randeep, known for his unconventional choices and dedication to his craft, admits to previously prioritising artistic merit over financial gain. He jokingly referred to his past as someone who “lost all my money on fast women and slow horses.” However, his recent marriage and foray into production have brought a new sense of responsibility. “There’s a sense of responsibility now, as a producer, as a married man,” he shared. He acknowledges his wife’s needs and desires, motivating him to adjust his financial perspective.
Breaking the ‘Socialist’ Mindset
Randeep humorously acknowledges the traditional outlook within his Jaat community, where making money was sometimes seen as wrong. He recognizes the need to overcome this mindset, especially in his current roles. “Us jaats have always had a socialist outlook towards money… But that’s changing over time. And it’s important,” he stated.
Learning Through Experience
Randeep’s journey as a producer has been a learning experience. In a previous interview with Bollywood Bubble, he revealed selling personal property to finance his directorial debut, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. Thankfully, the film eventually broke even, allowing him to recover his investment. He jokingly told his father to buy more properties for future filmmaking endeavours!
