While this marks Akshay Kumar’s formal entry into Telugu cinema, it is not his first brush with regional languages. The versatile actor previously appeared in the bilingual film Ashaant (1993), which was released in Kannada as Vishnu Vijaya. He also starred in Shankar’s Tamil blockbuster 2.0 in 2018. Kannappa will be his third venture into South Indian cinema.
Produced by 24 Frames Factory and Ava Entertainment, Kannappa promises to be a magnum opus with acclaimed composers Stephen Devassy and Manisharma on board. The film is slated for release in major Indian languages as well as English for a wide reach and appeal to audiences across the country.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar’s latest film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, co-starring Tiger Shroff, is currently playing in theaters. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film hit theatres on April 11.
