The original film’s screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna has been tapped in to write the sequel. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, Variety report suggests the sequel will find Miranda facing a new kind of challenge – a challenge far more formidable than deciphering the latest trends. The decline of print media casts a long shadow, threatening the very foundation of Runway’s empire. Enter Emily, now a high-powered executive with a luxury group, potentially holding the advertising dollars Miranda desperately needs.
The original film, based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, chronicled the nightmarish yet strangely transformative journey of Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a wide-eyed recent graduate thrown into the ruthless world of Runway magazine under the tyrannical rule of its editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). The film’s brilliance lay not just in its scathing portrayal of the fashion industry, but in the unexpected bond that blossomed between Andy and Emily (Emily Blunt), another of Miranda’s harried assistants, navigating the cutthroat world of high fashion.
