Universal Pictures has secured the rights to adapt Britney Spears’ bestselling memoir, “The Woman in Me”, into a feature film. The project will be helmed by Wicked director Jon M. Chu and produced by Marc Platt. Spears herself expressed excitement about the project, sharing on social media, “Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favourite movies.”

According to Variety, “The Woman in Me” was a raw and unflinching account of Spears’ life, from her childhood stardom to the tumultuous years under a conservatorship. With candid revelations about her personal life, relationships, and the challenges she faced within the entertainment industry, the memoir resonated deeply with fans and became a bestseller, selling over 2.5 million copies in the United States alone.

Spears herself has been candid about her desire to share her story on her own terms, and this film adaptation presents an opportunity to do just that. As she stated, “I poured my heart and soul into my memoir, and I am grateful to my fans and readers around the world for their unwavering support.”
