Esha Deol, who recently expressed her desire to do more work in Hindi Cinema, made a candid revelation of undergoing sexual harassment during her earlier days in the film industry. Amid a major uproar which was kicked off by the Hema Committee in the Malayalam film industry with several women taking a strong stand against sexual harassment and rape in the Indian entertainment industry, Bollywood actresses too have shared their thoughts, and some have even opened up about their personal experiences. Among them was Esha who recalled an incident that happened years ago during the release of her film Dus in 2005.
The Dhoom actress opened up about the incident during an interaction on the episode of Male Feminist wherein she said, “It happened in Pune during the premiere of the film Dus which had Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Zayed Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. So, the premiere was there and we were going through the crowd. All the artists were entering one by one when I entered and there were many big and strong bouncers around me too.” “Despite that, a man from the crowd touched me inappropriately. Something happened to me and my instant reaction was that I held the man’s hand and took him out from the crowd and slapped him,” Esha Deol added.
In the podcast, the actress discussed various aspects of her life including her childhood and teenage days with her father and Bollywood’s yesteryear superstar Dharmendra and her award-winning actress- turned – politician mother Hema Malini. On the work front, Esha, who is best known for her performances in films like Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Yuva, Dhoom, Kucch Toh Hai, and others, recently decided to return to the industry and has also been exploring the OTT space along with films. On the personal front, she recently announced her separation with husband Bharat Takhtani after 12 years of marriage. The estranged couple are parents to two daughters – Radhya and Miraya.
