Celebrity makeup artist Mickey Contractor recently revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes detail about the look Alia Bhatt sported in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. During his appearance on the Masoom Minawala Show on YouTube, the veteran makeup artist shared that Alia did not wear foundation while portraying her character Rani Chatterjee in the film directed by Karan Johar.
Opening up about the creative process behind the actress’ understated glam look, Mickey Contractor said, “You will not believe me, but in Rocky Rani, Alia did not wear any foundation. When I suggested it, she was okay with it. Karan freaked out a little bit to say, listen bro, I’m making a glamorous film, what are you saying? I said, let me just do the look test with you, and then if you don’t like it, we’ll change it”.
The makeup artist further revealed that the team eventually decided to retain the minimal beauty approach after the look test worked in their favour. “But he went with it. There’s only concealer under the eyes, and then there’s the smoky eye, then we did the cheeks with a cream product, so that there was that enough glow in it, and we did like a nude lip. It was just enough”, he added.
Mickey Contractor also detailed the eye makeup that became a defining part of Alia Bhatt’s look in the film. He also shared, “Those eyes did the rest. It was just the car gel, a little bit of liner, which was smoked out, and you know, mascara, and I think I also used a thin line of lashes, if I’m not mistaken, I don’t remember now”.
