Kit Harington publicly announced on Friday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he and his wife Rose Leslie are expecting their second child. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement came when host Jimmy Fallon asked Harington about the pair’s 2-year-old son.
“He’s about to get the shock of his life, which is that he’s about to get a brother or sister,” Harington revealed. The actor then confirmed that Leslie is indeed pregnant. The couple first met while starring in HBO’s hit fantasy series Game of Thrones and played Jon Snow and Ygritte, respectively. The pair got married in 2018 and welcomed their first child in February 2021.
When asked about what their oldest son thinks of a new family member, Harrington revealed, that he doesn’t think his child has “quite conceptually understood it just yet. We’re trying to get him ready for it. We point to Rose’s tummy and we say, ‘Mommy’s baby, mommy’s baby.’ And he points to his tummy and goes, ‘My baby.’ I’m quite sure that’s — yeah, you’ll know soon enough.”
He then talked about the differences in his mindset from the time he was expecting the first baby and now. “You know, with the first baby, you’re like walking on clouds and dancing through fields of daisies for nine months—well, the man is anyway,” he added. “But the reality check is much shorter this time, you get practical real quick.”
