Netflix’s new series, The Perfect Couple, delves into the glamorous yet sinister world of high-society Nantucket, where appearances can be deceiving and the truth often lies buried beneath layers of privilege and pretence. The series boasts a stellar cast, including Nicole Kidman as Greer Winbury, Dakota Fanning as the rebellious and troubled younger daughter, Eve Hewson as the loyal and supportive best friend, and Ishaan Khatter in his Hollywood debut as a charismatic and mysterious newcomer.
The series centers around Amelia Sacks, a woman on the cusp of marrying into one of the island’s most prominent families. Her future mother-in-law, the renowned author Greer Garrison Winbury, is a formidable figure who has spared no expense in planning the wedding of the century. However, when a body washes up on the shore, the idyllic summer takes a dark turn, and the carefully curated façade of perfection begins to crumble. As the investigation unfolds, secrets long hidden are brought to light, revealing a web of lies, deceit, and hidden motives. Each character, from the wealthy socialites to the local residents, becomes a potential suspect, and the line between truth and fiction blurs.

Director Susanne Bier helms the project, directing all six episodes and serving as an executive producer alongside showrunner Jenna Lamia. Fans of Hilderbrand’s work can look forward to her involvement as an executive producer, ensuring the series captures the novel’s essence. Additional executive producers include Shawn Levy for 21 Laps Entertainment, Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady for The Jackal Group, Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films, and Josh Barry. The series premieres on September 6 on Netflix.
