Netflix released the trailer for its upcoming Tamil psychological thriller Stephen, a story that begins with a man walking into a police station to confess to murder — only for the narrative to take an unexpected and unsettling turn. The film builds tension through a carefully crafted atmosphere, supported by a suspenseful score that deepens its sense of unease.
Directed by debutant Mithun Balaji and featuring Gomathi Shankar in his first leading role, Stephen is a character-driven thriller that explores guilt, morality, and the blurred lines between right and wrong. The film adds to Netflix’s growing lineup of bold and diverse Indian stories across genres released this year.
Gomathi Shankar spoke about taking on his first lead role and said, “This was my very first film, and it couldn’t have been a better beginning. Stephen isn’t a typical lead — he is layered and unpredictable, and he constantly keeps you guessing. Playing him was exciting and challenging.
