Dream Girl Hema Malini is going through the worst nightmare of her life. “Losing Dharam ji was losing the best part of my life. I am suddenly looking at a life ahead without him. Even if we not together all the time, he was always there for me.”
Now, Hema ji is keeping herself busy with her political obligations. “I was in my constituency Mathura. I was there for a week now. I had to attend the Sansad Khel Mahotsav. We are supposed to promote lots of activities with children. It was very comforting to see those bright children. Then there was a teachers’ meeting. Teachers in Uttar Pradesh had demands. I attended that meeting. Then we had a Sansad Jan Sunwai. We are supposed to handle so many people who come for various problems. Like an open forum where people can express themselves. All the officers are also there. I am also there. I did all that. A lot of nice things we were doing. I mean, trying to help the public. We have to make ration cards, pension cards. Everything I was doing. And what better way to heal pain than by working? Work is the best therapy for me.”
Even while Hema ji is seeking solace in bringing joy in other people’s lives, there are the cynics questioning her frowning expressions, etc.
Hema ji is amused and saddened. “They want me to play the grieving widow. Pictures of me with my swollen red eyes were circulated. Sorry, I am not going to give expressions to suit the photographers. This is not a film. This is my life. I don’t think any film can capture my love story with Dharam ji. The entire world loved him. But he chose me.”
