Last week, it came to light that Govinda won’t be seen in Bhagam Bhag 2 and that he has been replaced by Manoj Bajpayee. While fans are confident that the talented Manoj Bajpayee would rock the show, some of them also confessed that they were dejected to know that Govinda won’t be a part of the sequel. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Paresh Rawal, who also features in the film, about the new casting.
Paresh Rawal confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that Manoj Bajpayee has indeed come on board for Bhagam Bhag 2. When asked about Akshay Kumar and Manoj joining hands as the male leads, Paresh Rawal replied, “It’ll make for a different and unique combination.”
The veteran actor then also added, “However, we’ll miss Govinda.” Why isn’t Govinda in Bhagam Bhag 2? Paresh Rawal replied, “I have genuinely no idea.”
Paresh Rawal also confirmed an exclusive development to Bollywood Hungama that he would feature in a double role in Bhagam Bhag 2. He revealed, “I am excited. Maza aayega. Dhamaal hoga!” He has earlier played dual roles in Platform (1993), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Janam Kundli (1995) and Chor Machaye Shor (2002). In Oye Lucky Lucky Oye (2008), he played a triple role.
Besides Paresh Rawal, Bhagam Bhag 2 also stars Akshay Kumar and Manoj Bajpayee. It marks the Hindi theatrical film debut of Meenakshi Chaudhary; her other Hindi film Upstarts (2019) was directly released on Netflix. While the original 2006 film was directed by Priyadarshan, Bhagam Bhag 2 will be helmed by Raaj Shaandilyaa of Dream Girl (2019) fame.
Meanwhile, in 2026 and 2027, Paresh Rawal will be seen in multiple comic films. On April 10, he’ll appear in the horror comedy, Bhooth Bangla, while on June 26, his other highly awaited flick, Welcome To The Jungle, will be out. 2027 will see the release of Bhagam Bhag 2 and also Hera Pheri 3. Incidentally, all these films also co-star Akshay Kumar.
