The web series, Sanakalp, was released on Amazon MX Player on March 11 and in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Dishaa Jhaa spoke about producing the mammoth show, working with Nana Patekar and her father Prakash Jha (whom she addresses as ‘sir’) and a lot more.

Belated Happy Birthday to you! How did you celebrate?
Thank you! It was a Sunday (March 8), but we were all working. However, my friends took me out for some time, where we saw the final T20 match. That’s all.
How has the feedback been for Sankalp?
The reviews are great. Ek do reviews kharaab bhi aaye hai, which happens. However, I spoke to many people who have watched the show, and many of them asked me about Season 2. Additionally, I am speaking with people in the interior and the hinterland. They do not belong to the industry and that’s the main audience. Thankfully, they have liked it and hence, I am happy with the response.
Prakash Jha’s Aashram also appealed to that audience, which resulted in record views. Sankalp is also a show that will be enjoyed by them…
Sankalp is a very different show from what is being churned out nowadays on digital. Also, it’s a clean entertainer. Hence, you can watch it with your family. Since sir has directed it, a lot of people expected that it’ll be political. But the political angle is minimal as it’s more of a revenge story.
How was it working with Nana Patekar?
It was great. He was one of the first people to see me when I was born. I worked with him in Raajneeti (2010) before. That was my first film. Notwithstanding his image, he’s actually fun-loving and loves to do masti! He also likes pulling legs. In between takes, he’ll talk to you about your family and beginnings. He did this with so many people on the sets.
Sankalp is a mammoth show with several actors and locations. How many days did it take to shoot?
We started shooting in the last week of January 2023 in Prayagraj. We shot in the town until March. Then there was a five-six days break, after which we shot for some 15 days in Lucknow. Overall, it was a 56–57-day schedule.
Sankalp is almost 8 hours long. That it was shot in less than 60 days is a feat…
Yes, but then sir shoots very fast. He’s known for it.

Talking about the locations, the house of Kanhaiylal (Nana Patekar) is lovely. It also had a lovely open area on the top and audiences formed a bond with that location, along with the characters. Was it a real location or was it a set?
It’s a real location in Prayagraj. If I remember correctly, both Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Mr Amitabh Bachchan stayed in that bungalow as well. When we went for a recce, the team from that house informed us about it.
Sankalp was earlier titled Laal Batti. What was the reason to change the name?
Sankalp was more apt with the storyline. Also, I don’t think we are allowed to legally use titles like Laal Batti. This was also a reason for the change in name.
Tushar Pandey, who left a mark in Aashram and Chhichhore, also features in Sankalp. He appears in the first two episodes and is then seen directly in Episode 9. Was his track edited out? And can we expect him in Season 2?
We had a track of the youngsters studying in Chankaya Coaching Center. However, the show would have then become lengthier. As a result, we kept some of their scenes. But we were of the opinion, and so was Jio Studios, that the focus should be on the principal plot. There are talks happening right now of Season 2. But if it’s indeed made, we’ll definitely focus on him and other characters as well.
Speaking of Season 2, is there an idea in place?
I am sure writer Reshu Nath has it. After all, it’s a norm to keep Season 2 in mind when you write Season 1 of a web show. As of now, there has been no formal talk of Season 2. Releasing Season 1 itself took 3 years. However, if Jio Studios gives a go-ahead, then we’ll definitely come up with another season.
Any final thoughts on Sankalp?
I hope audiences give as much love to Sankalp as they gave to Aashram. Do not compare it with Aashram because the world is completely different. I also hope that enough people see it and that we are able to break the records of Aashram!
The post EXCLUSIVE: 8 hour-long Sankalp was shot in JUST 57 days – Prakash Jha’s producer-daughter Dishaa Jhaa shares fascinating trivia: “Bachchans stayed in the bungalow owned by Nana Patekar in the show”; adds, “I hope Sankalp BREAKS the record of Aashram” appeared first on Bollywood Hungama.
