Vinod Bachchan has carved a niche for himself with films like Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017), Ginny Weds Sunny (2020), etc. A day before the release of Ginny Wedss Sunny 2, the producer spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama and opened up on future plans.

Vinod Bachchan said, “I have a very good script for Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana 2. It’s a novel story. I can guarantee you that the male protagonist would be loved by female audiences. They would wish for a husband, son, or son-in-law like Sattu. It focuses on certain aspects of our society which we often ignore. Hence, it’s a film that will serve as a mirror to society and lead to important discussions in the family.”
He added, “The other film I am working on is called Munni And Mishra. It is based in the year 1985 and is a love story of a dacoit. Munni and Mishra’s characters are akin to Romeo and Juliet.”
Vinod further stated, “The scripts of both these subjects are complete. Talks are on with Rajkummar Rao for Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana 2. Let’s see when we get the dates and when we can take the film on the floors. I hope to make it immediately after Ginny Wedss Sunny 2.”
Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana has become a cult after its theatrical run and has been liked for the plot, dramatic second half, songs and the performances by Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda. It tells the story of a simpleton, Sattu, who is left abandoned by Aarti just before marriage after she learns that she has cleared the PCS exams. The story progresses five years ahead, when Aarti is doing well as a government officer. She’s accused of taking a bribe, and the one helming the investigation is none other than Sattu! Sattu uses this opportunity to exact revenge on her.
In the end, Aarti is declared innocent and both get married. However, a section of the viewers was of the opinion that Sattu shouldn’t have forgiven Aarti and definitely shouldn’t have married her.
On this, Vinod Bachchan said, “We had thought of 3 endings for the film. All three endings were great. However, we need to go by the decision of the writer and director. And all 3 of us were on the same page that the boy is truly in love with the girl. His parents have accepted the girl. The girl’s family has also realized their mistake and is guilty about it. Hence, we felt that dono ko mila dena chahiye. Woh zyada behtar hai.”
What were the other two endings? Vinod Bachchan revealed, “One of the endings was that Aarti leaves and then her family stops her. This is when Aarti learns that Sattu was playing along. We reversed this aspect in the final version. There, it’s Aarti who pretends to marry someone else, and Sattu realizes that he has actually come to attend his own wedding.”
