In a recent Instagram post shared on September 21, Karan Johar uploaded an old video where Shah Rukh Khan opened up about one of his most embarrassing moments on the sets of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. In the clip, King Khan humorously reflected on his tight clothing in the movie’s first half, where he played the charming college stud, Rahul Khanna.
“The most embarrassing moment is the costumes that I have to wear when I am playing the young guy,” Shah Rukh revealed in the video. “Mujhe lagta hai meri jeans zyada tight hai, T-shirt zyada tight hai (I feel that my jeans and T-shirt are too tight), and I am supposed to play the college stud in my youth. I have to say, walk, and talk, and do certain things which I am embarrassed to…”
Despite his discomfort, Shah Rukh’s portrayal of Rahul Khanna left an indelible mark, with his casual-yet-trendy look becoming a defining style statement of the late 1990s.

Alongside the video, Karan Johar penned a heartfelt and humorous note, taking fans back to the days of shooting Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. In the caption, Karan acknowledged how Shah Rukh was uneasy with the “bright tight garments” but still managed to carry them with flair.
“Bhai (SRK) was so uncomfortable in those bright tight garments and yet pulled them off with main fashion core energy!” Karan wrote, adding that Shah Rukh’s costumes from the film would still be considered “fashion-relevant” today.
The Basketball Scene Blunder
Karan Johar also reminisced about a humorous incident involving the basketball sequence, a recurring motif in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He shared that he kept referring to a basket as a “goal” during the shoot until Shah Rukh Khan gently corrected him. “I remember whilst shooting the basketball sequence I kept calling it ‘a goal’ till bhai took me aside and whispered ‘it’s a basket,’” Karan shared in his post, adding that it took him a moment to realize the error.
