Filmmaker Mozez Singh marked four years of Human, the medical drama series that remains a significant chapter in his creative journey. Since its release, the show has continued to be discussed for its exploration of ethical dilemmas and moral ambiguity within the healthcare system.
Co-directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Mozez Singh, Human chose to engage with difficult questions rather than offering clear moral answers. The series examined how systems influence human behaviour and the complex choices individuals make within them, trusting viewers to engage with its layered narrative.
Reflecting on the experience, Singh shared, “Making Human was a deeply transformative experience. From writing the show all through 2020, during the height and panic of Covid, to filming and editing it in 2021, also during Covid, the world of Human became a balm and a tonic that I felt so fortunate to be able to have and escape to at a very difficult time in the world.”
Speaking about the collaborators who shaped the series, he added, “The opportunity to direct exceptional actors like Shefali Shah, Vishal Jethwa, Ram Kapoor, Kirti Kulhari, Seema Biswas and many others was a gift any director would cherish. I was also fortunate to have an incredible producer and creative partner in Vipul Shah, who placed immense trust and faith in me. As the series marks its fourth anniversary, I’m deeply thankful for the love it received from audiences. Human will always remain very special to me.”
The performances played a central role in grounding the series. Led by Shefali Shah, Kirti Kulhari, and Vishal Jethwa, the cast brought restraint and emotional depth to characters shaped by moral conflict. Their portrayals reinforced the show’s focus on complexity rather than clear-cut conclusions.
Having written and co-directed the series, Singh maintained a consistent narrative voice throughout its run. Over the years, Human has continued to prompt discussion and reflection among viewers, indicating its lasting relevance beyond its initial release.
